Our History

Heritable Bank is a UK incorporated bank established over 130 years ago. Founded originally in Glasgow in 1877, we moved to Berkeley Square, London in the 1950s. In 2000, Heritable Bank became part of the fast-growing and highly successful Landsbanki Group and we moved to our current location in Hill Street, off Berkeley Square in 2003 to enable us to continue our expansion programme.

Heritable has expanded considerably, through the organic growth in our core property finance activities, by introducing new products and services and by acquiring other companies:

2003
Acquired team of experts to launch broker-based specialist residential mortgage business.

Began accepting wholesale deposits from UK corporations and local authorities.

2004
Added a range of highly-competitive retail savings accounts. Heritable Bank is now mostly funded by capital and deposits.

2005
Acquired Key Business Finance, a specialist short-term lender to the UK legal profession.

Acquired team of experts in the broker-based asset finance market.

2007
Balance sheet went through £1bn in lending assets for first time
